2nd District Email Blast

Email Blast

NOPD 2nd District

On March 11th at or about 2:00 am, the victim parked her vehicle in the 900 block of Lowerline Street. She started walking down the street enroute to a friend’s house. While crossing the street, she was approached by a black male who was armed with a handgun. The subject told the victim to return to her vehicle. They both walked to the car and got inside. The victim drove, while the suspect remained in the passenger seat. After traveling only a couple of blocks, the victim and the suspect switched positions - with the suspect now driving the vehicle. When the car stopped at Broadway and Freret, the victim exited the car and fled on foot. The suspect drove off with the victim’s car. She walked two blocks back to her friend’s residence and contacted police about 1 hour after the incident occurred. Tulane Police and NOPD officers recovered the abandoned car in the 7300 block of Freret (about ½ block away from where it was originally parked). Several valuable items were left inside the vehicle by the suspect. The victim was unharmed.

The suspect is described as a 20-25 year old black male, 5’10”, 175-200 lbs., dark complexion, medium length braids, soft spoken (called victim Miss), wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, no further information.
